English for Social Sciences - Writing
Goals:
Reading and understanding of scientific texts
Overview of guiding principles how to write a scientific text in English correctly
Translation of technical terms
The given goals are achieved by examining scientific texts containing sociological topics.
Class language is English (Level B2+ of the Common European Framework). The course includes all four skills of English (reading, writing, speaking, and listening).
Successful completion of a placement test (to be announced)
Students who do not meet these requirements can ask the teacher for individual assessment.

2.5 credit points will be awarded for regular participation in the sessions plus the completion of a portfolio of assigned writing tasks that include:
- One short text (about 300 words)
- One final paper (ca. 1500 words)
