Bei der Auseinandersetzung mit Bildung, Erziehung und Lernen fällt auf, dass eine Vielzahl an filmischen Genres (offen oder implizit) eine Position zu Pädagogik einnimmt - und das weit über den Kinderfilm oder die Familienserie hinaus.

Mit bildungstheoretischem Fokus werden im Seminar ausgewählte filmische Materialien genauer betrachtet, wobei unterschiedliche Aspekte von Pädagogik aufgegriffen und besprochen werden. Der Schwerpunkt der Lehrveranstaltung wird in der gemeinsamen hermeneutischen Arbeit während der Seminarsitzungen liegen. Dabei stehen gemeinsame Übungen und Diskussionen im Mittelpunkt.
Mit der sozialwissenschaftlichen Filmanalyse können kritische Perspektiven auf Inszenierungen entfaltet werden und das handlungsorientierte Notationssystem wird hierzu als Methode zur präziseren Erfassung von filmischen Inszenierungen vorgestellt.

Für die Auseinandersetzung mit Bildung werden für das Seminar im dialogischen Prinzip unterschiedliche Vorstellungen von Bildung und Pädagogik aufgegriffen und eingegrenzt.
Dabei spielen auch zentrale gesellschaftspolitische Grundfragen wie Geschlechterarrangements, soziale Ungleichheit und Ausgrenzungsmechanismen eine Rolle, oder auch Ideen von Emanzipation und (sozialer) Gerechtigkeit. Zentrale Klammer der Seminardiskussion ist der Blick auf Bildungsprozesse in Auseinandersetzung zwischen Individuum und Welt. Das bedeutet, dass lebensweltliche Felder bedeutsam werden, wie Familienverhältnisse, Bildungsinstitutionen etc.

Vorkenntnisse zu Bildungstheorien sind willkommen, aber keine Voraussetzung für die Teilnahme, da die Lehrveranstaltung mehrere Modul-Queröffnungen anstrebt und Heterogenität des Plenums berücksichtigt.
