In den letzten Jahren wurde nicht nur in der Erziehungswissenschaft, vermehrt über eine wachsende Punitivität diskutiert. Anlass waren unter anderem Veröffentlichungen wie „Lob der Disziplin“ von Bernhard Bueb (2006) oder „Die Tigermama“ von Amy Chua (2011). Der Aufruf zu mehr Härte und Disziplin in der Erziehung zog weite Kreise. Auch in der Politik wird im Umgang mit jungen Straftäter_innen häufig über eine Reformierung des sozialen Sektors diskutiert und vermehrt auf Härte, anstelle von Resozialisierung gesetzt.
In diesem Seminar soll der Fokus auf vergangene und aktuelle Diskurse hinsichtlich Punitivität, also der Tendenz zu harten Strafen, innerhalb der Erziehungswissenschaft gesetzt werden. Hierfür sollen neben historischen und theoretischen Einblicken auch empirische Daten zur Einsicht in das Thema verhelfen.
