In der Zeit um 1900 zeigt sich das einaktige Drama als Experimentierfeld für neue Ausdrucksformen. Um der Heterogenität dieser Schreib-Versuche gerecht zu werden (viele davon gelangten erst spät oder gar nicht zur Aufführung), verbietet es sich, die Grenzen der Gattung allzu eng zu ziehen. Dasselbe gilt für den heuristisch gebrauchten Begriff der „frühen Moderne“: Texte des Naturalismus und Ästhetizismus gehören ebenso zum Programm wie solche des frühen Expressionismus. Im Seminar soll es vor allem darum gehen, geeignete Analysetechniken für eine dramatische Form zu finden, die zwischen den Gattungen changiert und neben theatralischen auch lyrische, erzählerische und essayistische Züge aufweist. Die Texte werden unter Stud.IP zum Herunterladen bereitgestellt.
