Das Modul "Genomforschung" besteht aus dem Praktikum, dieser Vorlesung und dem dazu gehörigen Seminar. Die Vorlesung vermittelt das nötige Basiswissen im Bereich der strukturellen Genomforschung bei Pro- und Eukaryoten. Ausgehend von der Struktur von Chromosomen und Genomen wird der Aufbau und die Expressionsregulation pro- und eukaryotischer Gene behandelt. Nach einer Einführung in die genetische und physikalische Genomkartierung werden Prinzipien und Methoden zur Sequenzierung pro- und eukaryotischer Genome auf der Ebene von Genom- und cDNA-Sequenzen vorgestellt. Im Anschluß daran steht die Vorstellung von Prinzipien der Annotation von Genomen auf Ebene von cDNA- und Genomsequenzen sowie der Vergleich von Genomen.
