Einübung demografischer, epidemiologischer, biostatistischer und sozialempirischer Methoden.
MPH 10 Methods of Quantitative and Qualitative Research gibt einen Überblick über die
Methoden sozialwissenschaftlich-empirischer Forschung und ihre Anwendung auf gesundheitswissenschaftliche
Fragestellungen. Die Studierenden sollen befähigt werden, die Logik von Forschungsprozessen und das methodische Vorgehen in empirischen Untersuchungen zu verstehen. Weiterhin sollen sie mit wichtigen quantitativen und qualitativen Methoden der empirischen Gesundheitsforschung vertraut gemacht werden und Grundkenntnisse für die Durchführung eigener empirischer Arbeiten erwerben. Thematisiert werden u. a. dieStadien des Forschungsprozesses, Entwicklung von Fragestellungen, Bildung von Hypothesen, Auswahl von Forschungsdesigns, Regeln für die Konstruktion von Messinstrumenten, Methoden der Datenerhebung (schriftliche Befragungen und Interviews), Verfahren zur Gewinnung von Stichproben, Strategien der Datenauswertung.
