Caesars Bellum Gallicum stellt eines der wichtigsten Zeugnisse des Imperialismus der späten Römischen Republik dar. In der Veranstaltung werden wesentliche Partien vor allem aus den ersten beiden Büchern übersetzt und historisch interpretiert. Das soll Einblicke zum einen in die Mechanismen römischer Eroberungszüge aus der Sicht des Feldherrn, aber auch in die Kultur der Kelten des 1. Jahrhunderts v.Chr. geben.
