Die Intercenales (Tischgespräche) des italienischen Humanisten Leon Battista Alberti (1404-1474) sind eine Sammlung von gut fünfzig Prosastücken, die sich stilistisch sehr abwechslungsreich präsentieren und Dialoge, Fabeln, Kurzkomödien, Satiren, Novellen, Briefe und weitere Gattungen umfassen. Sie lassen erkennen, wie der Autor antikes und mittelalterliche Texte in höchst origineller Weise rezipiert, die weit über rein epigonenhaftes Imitieren hinausgeht. Das Seminar bietet eine repräsentative Auswahl an Stücken, die die inhaltliche und stilistische Vielfalt des Werkes abbilden und zugleich ein Verständnis für neulateinische Literatur erschließen sollen.
