Der menschliche Körper ist in der Literatur der Gegenwart ein allgegenwärtiges Sujet. Zur Debatte stehen dabei grundlegende Fragen zum Verhältnis von Körper und Sprache: Wie lassen sich Körper in Sprache fassen? Wo liegen ihre – physischen und verbalen – Grenzen? Wie verhalten sich menschliche zu nicht-menschlichen Körpern? Und unter welchen Umständen können Körper zu schreibenden Subjekten werden? – Diesen und anderen Fragen geht das Seminar durch die Lektüre und Diskussion von rezenten Theorieansätzen aus Gender Theory, Affect Theory, Embodiment Studies und New Materialism nach. Behandelt werden Texte von T. Laqueur, J. Butler, K. Barad, J. Bennett, P.T. Clough, L. Berlant und S. Ahmed. Gerahmt wird die Einführung in die Theorie-Diskurse durch die Lektüre von essayistischen und literarischen Texten, die experimentelle Weisen des ‚Körper-Schreibens‘ erproben (R. Barthes, A. Lorde, P.-H. Campbell, E. Becker, K. de l’Horizon).
