231051 Literature, Media and Intercultural Learning (Grundschule) (S) (WiSe 2013/2014)

Contents, comment

This course will connect the theoretical background of literature, media and intercultural learning with the practical side of teaching. We will focus on materials (e.g. books, films and realia), and we will consider appropriate teaching methods and activities for young learners of EFL in elementary school.
Students will also be encouraged to compare the approaches of different textbooks to teaching specific aspects (e.g. cultural studies, festivals and special days, ...).
Active participation in this course is required. Students will be asked to plan and demonstrate specific lessons and methods based on the competence expectations of the curriculum.
Assessment and grading will be announced in the first two sessions of the seminar.
