Die ersten drei Odenbücher des Horaz (veröffentlicht 23 v. Chr) sind dessen Meisterwerk. Horaz orientiert sich an den alten griechischen Lyrikern und deren Themen, wobei er sie durch seine eigenen erweitert: Liebe, Wein, Geselligkeit, Freundschaft, Fragen der Philosophie, Politik und natürlich Dichtung.
Wir wollen im Seminar ergründen, wie Horaz es schafft, diese Themen in ein lyrisches Format zu bringen und welche poetologischen, moralischen und dichterische Aussagen er dabei trifft.
