This seminar will prepare its participants for their school placement and therefore focus on school- and teaching related aspects.
To give you an intensive preparation before as well as a thorough evaluation after your placement we will meet in two blocks.
In the first part of the seminar (before placement) we will determine the function the work experience has for the participants and their future career as teachers. As a preparation we will then focus on the role of classroom observation as well as create individual observation tasks.
Finally we will devise several lesson plans for SI and SII and evaluate them with regard to topic, task design, timing, classroom organisation and the use of media.
In the second part of the course (after placement) participants will reflect and discuss their experiences as well as present and evaluate a lesson they taught during their time in school.
There will be an introductory session at the beginning of the semester where we will meet to sort out problems and questions (Thursday, 11.10.2012, 14-16). You need to attend this session if you want to keep your seat in the course.
