In dieser Veranstaltung werden praktische Anwendungen und Problemstellungen beim
Einsatz bioinformatischer Techniken in der Genomforschung behandelt. (Das
Praktikum basiert auf den praktischen Erfahrungen der in Bielefeld
durchgeführten Genom- und Postgenomprojekte.)
Die folgenden Bereiche sind unter anderem geplant: Assembly, Finishing, Genvorhersage,
Funktionsvorhersage, Genomannotation, komparative Genomanalyse, DNA-Microarrays, Software für
Massenspektrometrie für Proteomik und Metabolomik.In Ergänzung zu den theoretischen Kenntnissen sollen die Studierenden
die praktische Anwendung der bioinformatischen Methoden im Bereich der
Genomforschung kennenlernen. Neben der Vermittlung von Kenntnissen über
existierende Softwarewerkzeuge und Datenbanken sollen auch kleinere
Eigenentwicklungen realisiert werden.
