The seminar aims at developing a broad and critical understanding of the sociological perspective in the study of education. The emphasis will be on the examination of the interplay between education and the socio-cultural and global contexts in which it operates. Specifically, the seminar will include modules such as sociological paradigms in education, education as a sphere of justice, education and social inequality, education and societal/global ideologies.
