Die komplexen Zahlen sowie Quaternionen stellen Erweiterungen des reellen Zahlbegriffs dar.
Die Entwicklung der komplexen Zahlen ist aufs Engste verknüpft mit der Entwicklung der Theorie
zur Auflösung von algebraischen Gleichungen. Gleichzeitig sind komplexe Zahlen und
Quaternionen ein wichtiges Darstellungsmittel für zentrale Problemstellungen der Geometrie.
Mit Hilfe komplexer Zahlen und Quaternionen können auf elegante Weise algebraische und
geometrische Probleme bearbeitet werden. Das Ziel des Seminars besteht darin, einen
Überblick über Eigenschaften der komplexen Zahlen und Quaternionen sowie einige Anwendungen
zur klassischen Problemen der Geometrie und Arithmetik zu vermitteln.
