Quer durch Spiegel, ZEIT und Radiosendungen geht die Beschwerde von Uni-Dozenten, ihre Studenten schrieben ihnen unhöfliche E-Mails. Beabsichtigt sei das selten, so Sprachwissenschaftler, es fehle das Wissen um sprachliche Normen. Und das nicht nur im Uni-Alltag: Auch im Nebenjob in einer Firma oder beim Schreiben einer Bewerbung wird von jungen Menschen eine Schreibpraxis erwartet, die sie nie gelernt haben. Gute Vorbilder zu finden, ist oft schwierig: Soll man sich an hölzernen Banken- und Behördentexten orientieren? An verschachtelten akademischen Publikationen? An flapsigen Werbebriefen? An den grauenvollen Recruiting-Videos mancher Unternehmen? Inhalt des Seminars ist es, diese Fragen zu diskutieren, Lösungen zu finden und das Schreiben von Texten zu üben, die außerhalb des Privaten Adressaten erreichen, überzeugen und informieren sollen.
