Im Mittelpunkt dieser Veranstaltung steht die Beschäftigung mit einer von Enrique Otte herausgegebenen Sammlung von spanischsprachigen Briefen von Auswanderern in die Neue Welt. Es handelt sich um etwa 400 Briefe, die in der Frühzeit der Kolonialisierung Amerikas in der zweiten Hälfte des 16. Jhs. geschrieben wurden, in denen Auswanderer an Familienangehörige schreiben, um sie über ihre Erlebnisse zu informieren und / oder sie zu bewegen nachzukommen.
Nach einer allgemeinen historischen Einführung und in das Spanisch des 16. Jhs. wollen wir die Briefe sprachwissenschaftlich analysieren. Neben syntaktischen Analysen soll dabei ein Schwerpunkt auf der Analyse der Beschreibungs- und Überzeugungsstrategien liegen. Kontrastiv werden wir uns zudem mit Chroniken der Eroberung Amerikas und / oder Blogs, die von heutigen Auswanderern geführt werden, beschäftigen.Ziel der Veranstaltung ist die Heranführung der Studierenden an die eigenständige Analyse von Originalquellen.
