Das Seminar widmet sich den neueren Filmen des dänischen Regisseurs und Produzenten Lars von Trier (Breaking the Waves, Dancer in the Dark, Dogville). Im Mittelpunkt steht dabei neben den großen Themen Mythos, Recht, Religion, Krankheit, Tod und Opfer auch die filmische Umsetzung der Ästhetik von Dogma 95. Neben den Filmen Lars von Triers werden daher auch Thomas Vinterbergs Film Das Fest und Søren Kragh-Jacobsens Mifune einbezogen. Schließlich sollen diese Filme auch noch mit aktuellen Beispielen einer avancierten amerikanischen Filmästhetik (Clint Eastwoods Million Dollar Baby o.a.) verglichen werden.
