Jeden Tag wird auf irgendeiner Facebook-Wall die Frage hinterlassen „später skypen?“ Die computervermittelte Kommunikation erweitert die Möglichkeiten der Kommunikation, sie tritt zwischen zwei oder mehrere Akteure und befreit Interaktionen vom Zwang der unmittelbaren Anwesenheit. Mit Foren, Chats, Videokonferenzen, Newslettern, E-Mails etc. entstehen „hybride Formen“ der Anwesenheit und Kommunikationsmodi zwischen Schriftlichkeit und Mündlichkeit, „die mit klassischen sozialwissenschaftlichen Konzepten schwerlich zu erfassen sind“ (Greschke 2009). Im Seminar sollen Formen der Online-Kommunikation auf ihre formale und inhaltliche Spezifik hin untersucht werden. Insbesondere sollen qualitative Methoden wie die Konversationsanalyse, Gattungsanalyse, Inhaltsanalyse, Objektive Hermeneutik, Diskursanalyse und Ethnographie vorgestellt werden. Darüber hinaus werden Konversationsanalyse und Objektive Hermeneutik in praktischen Einheiten eingeübt.
