Soziale Ungleichheit bezeichnet eigentlich ein Konzept, das sozialstrukturelle Phänomene erfasst und mit quantitativen Methoden erforscht wird. Im Seminar werden zunächst die methodologischen Probleme herausgearbeitet, die sich bei einer qualitativen Erforschung sozialer Ungleichheit stellen. Danach werden verschiedene Erhebungs- und Auswertungsverfahren daraufhin diskutiert, in welcher Weise soziale Ungleichheit mit ihnen erfasst werden kann. Es werden einige beispielhafte Studien vorgestellt und es wird Gelegenheit geboten, verschiedene Verfahren zu erproben. Im Seminar werden verschiedene Ungleichheitsdimensionen in den Blick genommen, wie Geschlecht, Alter, Milieu, Schicht, Generation usw.
