Dieses Seminar stellt eine Einführung in die Bedeutung und Forschung des deutschen Sozialstaats da.
Zunächst beschäftigen wir uns mit dem deutschen Sozialstaat, seinen Ideen und Schlüsselbegriffen sowie seiner historischen Entwicklung. Die Fragen, was ein Sozialstaat, was ein Wohlfahrtsstaat ist und welche Funktionen eine Rolle spielen, stehen hier im Zentrum.Im Anschluss daran erfolgt eine intensivere Auseinandersetzung mit einzelnen Feldern der Sozialpolitik. Dazu gehören das Renten- und Gesundheitssystem sowie Arbeitsmarktpolitik. Zudem setzen wir uns mit aktuellen Problemen und Maßnahmen, unter anderem bedingt durch die Corona-Pandemie, auseinander.

Da es sich um eine Einführung handelt, sind spezifische Kenntnisse von Vorteil, aber nicht zwingend notwendig.

Die Studienleistung besteht aus mehreren Teilen. Dazu gehören die Bearbeitung von vorab gestellten Fragen bzgl. der zu lesenden Texte sowie zweier vorab gestellter Aufgaben. Zudem soll ein Kurzreferat zu einem passenden Thema der jeweiligen Sitzung gehalten werden oder ein Essay verfasst.
