This course will focus on the fundamentals of qualitative research methods. Starting, we will be building on your existing knowledge about qualitative approaches and have an exchange about your ideas and experiences as well as generating an overview of the method landscape.
Then we will have a deeper look into different methods of data collection and analysis: We will read methodological texts, work on data together in class and discuss the possibilities and restrictions of various methods. In accordance with your state of knowledge and interests, we may discuss: ethnography, conversation analysis, entering fieldwork, using theory, ethics, Grounded Theory Methodology, Documentary Method, group discussions, picture analysis and/or membership category analysis.
