Die Vorlesung führt in die Grundbegriffe und die wichtiogsten Bereiche und Themen der Sozialstrukturanalyse ein. Es geht es um verschiedene Sozialstrukturkonzepte, Theorien zu speziellen Teilbereichen der Sozialstrukturanalyse wie Lebenslauf, Bildung, Familie, Arbeitsmarkt und soziale Ungleichheiten sowie um solides empirisches Wissen über den Aufbau der Sozialstruktur moderner Gesellschaften. Deutschland wird dabei in den Kontext seiner historischen Entwicklung und des internationalen Vergleichs gestellt.
Begleitend zur Vorlesung sind für den BA Sozioloie und den BA Sowi Tutorien verpflichtend, bzw. sind sie Voraussetzung für die Zulassung zur Klausur in Sozialstrukturanalyse.
Für Diplom-Soziologie gibt es eine begleitende Übung.
