Das Seminar beschäftigt sich mit ‚sozialen Robotern‘ und ‚verkörperten Agenten‘ als neuartigen Interaktionstechnologien und geht der Frage nach, ob und wie sich Sozialität verändert, wenn nicht mehr nur Menschen miteinander kommunizieren, sondern auch Maschinen als Kommunikationspartner von Menschen auftreten. Hierzu werden zentrale sozialtheoretische Ansätze eingeführt und diskutiert, die sich mit der potentiellen Sozialität von Maschinen befassen.
Zusätzlich sind ein oder zwei Exkursionen geplant (ins CITEC, an dem Roboter und Agenten entwickelt werden und/oder ins HNF Forum in Paderborn), die einen Einblick in aktuelle Entwicklungen der Robotik verschaffen sollen. Ob und in welcher Form die Exkursionen zustande kommen, wird zu Beginn des Seminares gemeinsam geklärt.
