Die Veranstaltung beschäftigt sich mit dem Beitrag ethnographischer Methoden für das Verständnis der postindustriellen, kapitalistischen Arbeitsgesellschaft. Ausgangspunkt ist eine Beschäftigung mit den Spezifika ethnographischen Arbeitens und der kulturwissenschaftlichen Arbeitsforschung. Es geht darum, wie Akteur_innen die Arbeitswelt als alltägliche Lebenswelt gestalten und in ihr wirken. Im ersten Teil des Seminars steht die Beschäftigung mit verschiedenen Formen der Ethnographie im Mittelpunkt; hierzu werden unterschiedliche Studien über ethnographisch untersuchter Arbeitsfelder gelesen (von Software-Entwicklern und anderen Wissensarbeiter_innen über den klassischen Handwerksbetrieb und Fabrikarbeit bis hin zu Managerinnen). Im zweiten Teil der Veranstaltung soll selbständig mit ethnographischen Mitteln gearbeitet, Daten erhoben und ausgewertet werden.
