Die Veranstaltung dient als Einführung in die Dramentheorie und Dramenanalyse. An ausgewählten Dramen aus der deutschen und europäischen Literatur, die sich ein und demselben Stoff widmen (dem aus der Antike stammenden Amphitryon-Stoff), sollen gattungstheoretische Grundfragen erörtert und grundlegende Verfahren der Dramenanalyse eingeübt werden. Hauptziel der Veranstaltung ist es, einen sicheren Gebrauch des entsprechenden Vokabulars und einen sicheren Umgang mit dramatischen Texten zu erlangen.
