Das BPS findet parallel zum Praxissemester statt und dient der Begleitung und Beratung. Die Themen werden in Absprache festgelegt.
Zu Beginn erfolgt meist eine Berichtsrunde. Diese kann zur Schilderung von Eindrücken, Überraschungsmomenten, Stolpersteinen für die RPS-Prüfung, Vorhaben für Studienprojekte etc. genutzt werden. Das BPS dient auch dazu, aufgetretene Probleme und Schwierigkeiten zu besprechen oder Themen des Deutschunterrichts zu wiederholen, die für das Praxissemester relevant sind. Darüber hinaus können auch Unterrichtsmaterialien mitgebracht und unter Zuhilfenahme fachlicher und fachdidaktischer Literatur reflektiert werden.

Studierende sind aufgefordert, sich aktiv in die Seminargestaltung einzubringen und von ihren Erfahrungen im Deutschunterricht des Praxissemesters zu berichten, Materialien vorzustellen und kritisch-reflexiv zu diskutieren etc. Die Einzelheiten werden im Seminar vereinbart.
