Das Seminar diskutiert ausgehend vom Buch des Sozialtheoretikers Wolfgang Knöbel „Die Soziologie vor der Geschichte“ (Suhrkamp 2022) den Stellenwert von Prozessbegriffen für das Selbstverständnis der Soziologie als akademischem Fach. In dem vorrangig soziologiegeschichtlichen Rückblick geht es dabei vor allem um das geschichtsphilosophische Erbe der Soziologie und die Kritik daran. Ausgehend davon widmet sich das Seminar ausgewählten Prozessbegriffen und den in den jeweiligen Bereichen geführten Debatten um das Für und Wider ihrer Geltungs- und Erklärungskraft. Denkbar wären etwa der Begriff der Säkularisierung und der Differenzierung. Anregungen und Wünsche der Teilnehmenden können hier gern noch mit einfließen.
