300113 Migration, Integration, Kultur: Eine Einführung (S) (WiSe 2012/2013)

Das Seminar gibt eine detaillierte Einführung in die Migrations- und Mobilitätsforschung. Dabei steht die Auseinandersetzung mit Integrationskonzepten und kultursoziologischen Fragestellungen im Mittelpunkt. Als erstes werden die klassischen Migrationstheorien von Milton. M. Gordon und Hartmut Esser vorgestellt. Nach kritischer Auseinandersetzung werden die aktuellen amerikanischen Assimilationsansätze von Alejandro Portes sowie Richard Alba und Viktor Nee diskutiert. Anschließend wird eine Reihe von alternativen, transnational orientierten, Migrationstheorien (Thomas Faist, Nina Glick Schiller und andere) eingeführt. Schließlich werden Konzepte wie Kosmopolitanismus, Hybridität und Kreolisierung diskutiert, die die Vorstellung einheitlicher nationaler Kulturen in Frage stellen. Abgerundet wird der Kurs durch die Diskussion des Konzeptes ‚Migrationskulturen‘, das die konventionelle Vorstellungen von ‚Kultur‘ hinterfragt.
