Contents, comment

This is a "Research Class" according to the new regulations of the BGHS. The Research Class mainly addresses doctoral students to create a continuous stream of discussing individual PhD projects over several semesters. Special emphasis is on methodological questions like identifying a research topic, specifying a research question, research design, choice of concepts and theories, choice of methods and data. Other issues like attending conferences, publishing and organisation of doctoral work can also be dealt with.

The Research Class is oriented to the needs of the participants. Active participation is the core of this type of course. This may include presenting part of one's doctoral work with regard to specified, mostly methodological aspects.
Preference is given to topics from social policy, social problems, social structure and globalisation/world society.

Diplom and MA theses can also be discussed.

The language is English or German depending on the participants and their preferences.
