Contents, comment

The end of the second millennium was marked by the recognition of the critical importance of early childhood education as the most significant period of human life. Well known intervention studies with cost-benefit analyses leave us no doubt regarding the long-term effects of preschool programs on children’s cognitive and social development, especially those children-at-risk.
In a constantly and rapidly changing world where the globalization of economy, information and technology have refute the traditional objectives of education and have developed new types of teaching-learning and new roles in the educational process, there is a dire need for thought, exploration, research and communication in the field.
The seminar will offer a comprehensive view of Early Childhood Education.
The core concept of this seminar is to emphasize to the reflection of the current trends, by drawing on the examples of the most influential approaches that have been developed the last decades and to the exploration of controversial and important issues in the field of preschool education.
