Ziel des Seminars ist die kritische Auseinandersetzung mit dem öffentlichen Diskurs über die deutsche Sprache aus linguistischer Sicht. Es wird dabei um folgende Fragen gehen:
- Was ist gutes Deutsch, wer bestimmt das und wie kann man Kriterien dafür aufstellen?
- Wie ist die standarddeutsche Sprachnorm entstanden, welche Rolle spielt sie im sprachlichen Alltag und wie wird sie aufrechterhalten?
- Wie verträgt sich die präskriptiv/vorschreibende Haltung der Sprachnormierer und Sprachkritiker mit der wissenschaftlichen Haltung zur Sprache als empirischem Untersuchungsgegenstand?
- Wie denken LinguistInnen über Sprachkritik und Sprachnormierung und was ist ihre Vorstellung von der deutschen Sprache?

Das Seminar wird als Blockseminar durchgeführt. Wir werden den Stoff in vier Themenblöcken behandeln, zu denen es jeweils eine etwa 5-stündige Sitzung gibt (selbstverständlich mit Pausen). Die Teilnahme am Seminar setzt die Bereitschaft zur Übernahme eines Referats voraus (Bedingung für aktive Teilnahme/Studienleistung).
