Die Elegie in Rom erlebte nur eine kurze, aber äußerst produktive Blütezeit: Properz, Tibull und Ovid sind ihre Vertreter. Jeder von ihnen ist anders, so daß die römische Elegie sich wohl nicht von einer genau entsprechenden griechischen Gattung herleiten läßt. Wir wollen uns im Seminar mit Tibull, dem Meister der Assoziationskette, beschäftigen. Welche Motive tauchen immer wieder auf? Was unterscheidet ihn von den anderen Vertretern? Handelt es sich um Liebeselegien? Was zeichnet Tibull aus?
Im Kurs soll das Werk des Tibull sowie ausgewählte Gedichte der anderen Vetrtreter und des Catull im Detail besprochen werden.
