Die Entwicklungen auf den internationalen Finanzmärkten belasten die Gesellschaft und besonders ihr politisches System mit verschärften Risikolagen. Dementsprechend versucht das politische System, die aktuellen Regulierungsformen an diese Gefährdungslagen anzupassen.
In dieser Übung werden die historischen Entwicklungen des Finanzsystems und seiner Regulierung unter einer risikosoziologischen Perspektive betrachtet. Dabei soll verdeutlicht werden, wie die forcierte Riskanz moderner Finanzmärkte das politische System komplementär mit Entscheidungsrisiken konfrontiert, die die Funktion des Machtmediums infrage stellen und zugleich neue Formen der Regulierung erforderlich machen. Zentrale Fragen sind dabei, wie die Politik auf diese Herausforderungen reagiert und welche Folgen dies besonders unter den Aspekten der Riskanz und der Legitimität politischer Entscheidungsprozesse nach sich zieht.
