Althochdeutsch und Altenglisch sind zwei prominente Vertreter der älteren germanischen Sprachen. Während sie zunächst beide zur westgermanischen Gruppe zählten, bildeten sich bereits auf dem europäischen Festland Unterschiede zwischen einer südlichen und einer nördlichen Variante heraus. Mit der Besiedlung der britischen Inseln durch verschiedene nordwestgermanischen Gruppen und den jeweils unterschiedlichen sprachlichen Einflüssen auf dem Festland und den Inseln wurden dann die Unterschiede immer größer. In dem Seminar werden wir uns mit den jeweiligen sprachgeschichtlichen Prozessen beschäftigen und und anhand linguistischer Textanalysen Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschiede herausarbeiten.
