230550 Humanistische Bildungsideale (von der Antike bis in die frühe Neuzeit) (S) (WiSe 2021/2022)

Format: hybrid synchron.
Das Seminar geht Fragen früheuropäischer Bildung und den zugehörigen Bildungskonzepten nach. Im Bereich der römischen Antike werden Bildungsgrundsätze Ciceros, Horazens, Quintilians und Augustinus' anhand einschlägiger Quelltexte erarbeitet und reflektiert. Nach einer kurzen Behandlung des Mittelalters (Diskussion um die 'Artes liberales') wird ein weiterer Fokus des Seminars auf den Renaissance-Humanismus gerichtet, der mit seinen „Studia humanitatis" an die antike Tradition anknüpfte und sie produktiv weiterentwickelte. Ein Ausblick wird auf die weitere Entwicklung über den Neuhumanismus bis in die Gegenwart hinein (etwa in den US-amerikanischen „liberal arts") gegeben. Es werden einschlägige lateinische Texte (zweisprachig) gelesen und besprochen.
