Je nach Bedarf werden die interessierenden wissenschaftlichen Methoden und Techniken der Linguistik wiederholt und in einen individuellen Bezug zu den einzelnen Masterprojekten gestellt. Auf diese Weise werden parallel zum Kursverlauf die jeweiligen Projekte methodisch geplant und reflektiert. Ziel des Seminars ist es, eine kritische Haltung zu im Fach verbreiteten Methoden und zur eigenen gewählten Methode für die Masterarbeit einzunehmen und diese Haltung argumentativ untermauern und schriftlich festhalten zu können.
Diese Themen können in Absprache mit den Kursteilnehmerinnen und -teilnehmern ergänzt oder angepasst werden.
Bei Besuch als "Projektseminar Kommunikation" gilt: Ausgangspunkt des Projekts sind in der Regel selbst erhobene authentische oder elizitierte Daten, die für die Analyse aufbereitet und qualitativ analysiert werden. Wo sinnvoll, werden weitere Methoden (quantitativ-statistisch, experimentell) aus den entsprechenden Basismodulen zur Analyse herangezogen. Die Datenerhebung und -bearbeitung wird in der Seminargruppe betreut und in ihren verschiedenen Stadien besprochen. Erste Projektergebnisse werden im Seminar vorgestellt und diskutiert.

Zu Kursbeginn muss bereits eine Ideenskizze für ein MA-Projekt vorliegen und mit einem Betreuer/einer Betreuerin abgesprochen worden sein.
