Contents, comment

Zu den Merkmalen moderner Politik gehört, dass Erwartungshaltungen und
Meinungen der Bürger mit Hilfe statistischer Verfahren sich darstellen,
analysieren und auch prognostizieren lassen. Im Lichte von Umfragewerten
beispielsweise reflektieren Parteien ihre Chancen am Stimmenmarkt wie
auch die der Konkurrenz, werden also wechselseitige Beobachtungen
motiviert und Strategien entwickelt. All dies geschieht unter den Augen
der Öffentlichkeit. Die Massenmedien übernehmen also bei der Vermessung
des Bürgers bzw. den zahlenbasierten Vermittlungen zwischen politischer
Kernzone und Peripherie eine wichtige Rolle. Auf sie wird in dem Seminar
näher eingegangen, ebenso auf die Frage nach der Relevanz der neuen
Medien in diesem Zusammenhang.
