Das Seminar soll zunächst einen Überblick über das Thema Lernen geben. Der Schwerpunkt wird dabei auf den theoretischen Grundlagen des selbstgesteuerten Lernens liegen und wie sich diese auf die praktische Umsetzung innerhalb pädagogischer Handlungsfelder auswirken.
Neben der theoretischen Auseinandersetzung sollen die Teilnehmenden sich praktisch mit Lernstrategien und Methoden beschäftigen. Dazu werden den Teilnehmenden auf der einen Seite Lernstrategien vorgestellt, die sie zur Gestaltung ihres eigenen Lernens nutzen können. Diese sollen innerhalb des Seminars angewendet und im Austausch mit anderen reflektiert werden. Auf der anderen Seite soll betrachtet werden, wie Lehr-Lernangebote (z.B. Unterricht, Workshops) gestaltet werden können, um das selbstgesteuerte Lernen anzuregen und zu unterstützen. Hierzu lernen die Teilnehmenden unterschiedliche (Moderations-) Methoden kennen und anwenden.
Insgesamt soll ein reflektierter Blick auf das eigene Lernen entwickelt und das Handlungsrepertoire im Rahmen der späteren professionellen pädagogischen Tätigkeit vor allem in Bezug auf das Lernen Lehren erweitert werden. Es kann für die Teilnehmenden in ihrer zukünftigen Rolle als Lehrende in Schule, Jugend-, Erwachsenen- oder Weiterbildung wirksame Zugänge zum Lernen und Lehren eröffnen sowie das Selbststudium unterstützen. Das Seminar ist ein Angebot des SCS – Service Center Selbststudium (www.uni-bielefeld.de/ew/scs).

Die aktive Teilnahme (AT) wird in Form eines Portfolios erbracht, welches die Bearbeitung von kleineren Aufgaben beinhaltet, die zur Vor- und Nachbereitung oder während des Seminars bearbeitet werden sollen.
Eine benotete Einzelleistung (EL b) kann durch eine schriftliche Ausarbeitung (Hausarbeit) von ca. 15 Seiten, eines im Seminar behandelten Themas erbracht werden. Die Leistung kann individuell oder auch in Gruppen bis maximal zwei Personen bearbeitet werden. Die Seitenanzahl erhöht sich entsprechend.
