Die Veranstaltung gibt einen Überblick über Probleme und Ergebnise der psycholinguistischen Leseforschung. Strukturiert in Anlehnung an Rayner & Pollatsek (1989) und Radach & Kennedy (2004) bietet das Seminar eine Einführung in die wesentlichen Sachverhalte – von Schriftsystemen über die Rolle von Augenbewegungen bis hin zu höheren kognitiven Prozessen der Kohärenz- und Inferenzbildung und der multimodalen Integration während des Lesens. Der Überblick wird ergänzt durch eine detaillierte Behandlung ausgewählter Befunde und Theorien – etwa das „Glenmore“-Modell oder das „Landscape“-Modell.
