Ziel und Inhalt des Seminars ist es, die Grundlagen des Tierwohls (Animal Welfare) der angewandten Verhaltensbiologie, theoretisch kennen zu lernen und an kleinen praktischen Beispielen zu erarbeiten. Zentrale Fragen sind: Wie kann man Verhalten und Tierwohl von (Nutz-) Tieren messen? Wie kann man die artgerechte Tierhaltung über Verhaltensindikatoren messen und bewerten? Diese Fragen werden intensiv in Vorträgen und Diskussionen sowie kleinen praktischen Beispielen erörtert, unter der Berücksichtigung verschiedener (Nutz-) Tierarten, Zuchtformen und deren spezifische Haltungsbedingungen mit deren jeweiligen Vorteilen und Nachteilen.
Das Seminar findet geblockt am digital über den Lehrstuhl für Verhaltensforschung an der Universität Bielefeld statt (Mi-Fr, 29.9.-01.10.2021). Im Rahmen des Seminars wird von jedem Teilnehmenden aktiven Teilnahme erwartet. Wer eine benotete Einzelleistung benötigt, kann nach Kursende eine kurze mündliche Prüfung durchführen.
