Im Seminar soll die Entwicklung des Lichts in der Malerei vom 14.-17. Jahrhundert in den Blick genommen werden. Damit wird dem Umstand Rechnung getragen, dass die Malerei seit der frühen Neuzeit mindestens so sehr von Neuerungen auf dem Feld der Lichtwiedergabe bestimmt worden ist, wie vom Einsatz der Zentralperspektive. Erst die Lichtregie im Bild verleiht den Gegenständen Plastizität und vermag die dargestellte Räumlichkeit zu plausibilisieren. An aussagekräftigen Beispielen soll dieser Wechselwirkung nachgegangen werden.
