Das Seminar dient der Vertiefung von Kernthemen der Vorlesung und vermittelt Grundlagen der Politischen Soziologie im Allgemeinen und einer Internationalen Politischen Soziologie im Besonderen. Zentrale Grundbegriffe, theoretische Zugänge und empirische Vorgehensweisen werden vorgestellt und anhand empirischer Beispiele veranschaulicht. Gefragt wird nach den Erscheinungsformen von Politik, ihren Bedingungen und Folgen in der Gesellschaft. Dabei werden unterschiedliche Perspektiven der (Internationalen) Politischen Soziologie miteinander verglichen und diskutiert. Auf welche verschiedenen Weisen können wir Politik und das Politische untersuchen? Wann und unter welchen Voraussetzungen wird ein gesellschaftlicher Zusammenhang politisch (oder entpolitisiert)? Wie können wir Macht, Gewalt und Herrschaft definieren und analysieren? Welche Beziehungen bestehen zwischen Staat, Verwaltung, Bürgerinnen und Bürgern? Welche Perspektiven eröffnet uns die Politische Soziologie unter den Bedingungen der Weltgesellschaft?
