This class is open to students of all faculties and I place no restrictions on prospective participants, but please note that students must be present during the first session (and the subsequent ones!).
As far as content is concerned, this course is the first part of a two-term course. It will largely concentrate on written English and its use in a business context, including applications and conventions of letter writing, summaries and note-taking.
To avoid frustration, I would like to point out that this class is primarily a language class - it is a class on business English, not on English business! As experience has shown that the language skills of participants differ widely, this class will concentrate on an intermediate level of English, i.e. include a revision of grammar and wordwork where necessary. More advanced students I would advise to participate in the Thursday class.
Students will be required to do occasional homework and hand in a portfolio at the end of term for a certificate of attendance (Teilnahmebestätigung). Both this and a test at the end of the term are the requirements for language credits (Schein). Bachelor students will need to write the test if they wish to have this class counted with 2 credit points.
