209502 Mastermodul D "Animal Behaviour" (V+Pr) (WiSe 2006/2007)

This module presents some methods and research strategies in the study of animal behavior.We analyse the behavior of animals partly from the more proximate perspective and partly asking ultimate questions. In particular, we will study costs and benefits of ontogeny, social behavior and parental care in mice and guinea pigs. Ethical and legal questions of animal maintenance and experimentation will be discussed. Conditions for credit points: Regular and active participation in the practical work, a seminar and a final report on results of the course project.
