What is the difference between sex and gender? How does one ‘queer’ a text? In this class, these questions and similar ones will be tackled. We will read several queer modernist and postmodernist texts and find out what it is that makes them queer and to what extent they are able to destabilize naturalized power structures. This class will be of interest to you if you would like to learn more about queer studies and would like to hone and apply your analytic skills.
