Die räumliche Veränderung der Lebenswelt über Sprach- und Dialektgrenzen hinweg bringt Migranten in Kontakt mit einem neuen Kulturraum und mit einer neuen Sprache. Die sprachlichen Anforderungen an Migranten stehen im engen Zusammenhang mit ihrer Integration in die neue Gesellschaft.
Die Migrationslinguistik untersucht die entstehenden Sprachkontakterscheinungen wie z. B. das Sprechen in wechselnden Kodes (code switching / code mixing), den Transfer von Diskursmarkern sowie phonologischen und morphologischen Variationen in dem neuen Sprach- und Lebensraum der Migranten.
Im Seminar soll nach einer Einführung gemeinsam eine Abgrenzung der Migrationslinguistik von den Nachbardisziplinen Kontaktlinguistik, Varietätenlinguistik und Areallinguistik herausgearbeitet werden. Hierfür werden Beispiele aus der aktuellen Forschung herangezogen. Auf Wünsche der Studierenden bzgl. zu betrachtender Migrantengruppen und Sprachräume wird dabei gerne eingegangen.
