Thematisch werden in der Vorlesung Theorien, Modelle, Experimente und Befunde aus den Bereichen Aufmerksamkeit, Wahrnehmung, Gedächtnis und Bewegungssteuerung vorgestellt. Neben klassisch experimentalpsychologischen Forschungsarbeiten sollen auch Studien aus dem Bereich der Kognitiven Neurowissenschaften und der Robotik präsentiert werden.

Die Vorlesung „Einführung in die neurokognitive Psychologie“ richtet sich primär an BSc Hauptfach-Studierende, die das Anwendungsfach „Neurowissenschaften“ gewählt haben. Grundlegende Kenntnisse in Allgemeiner Psychologie, Physiologischer Psychologie und Methodenlehre sowie der Besuch der Vorlesung „Einführung in die Neuropsychologie (X.1)“ werden vorausgesetzt.
