The seminar will explore and compare classical theories of capitalism as well as the "New History of Capitalism" that is currently making inroads in the field especially in the Anglosaxon world but also in global history.

This seminar is geared toward the participants of the master study program "Global Studies" between the universities of Bologna and Bielefeld. Yet the seminar welcomes students outside of this specialized program if interested in the history and theory of capitalism and willing to discuss the most interesting and cunning issues in the English language.
