Technical terms in short texts from some selected areas of social sciences will be introduced and put into context. Particular attention will be given to areas which present difficulties to language learners , such as theoretical terms and concepts and their relations and areas/topics that are of special interest to students.
Active use of spoken English will be practiced intensively:asking, explaining, arguing and discussing.
Students are invited to send me emails at: soelve.skorge@uni-bielefeld.de, stating particular areas of interest or difficulties (languagewise) as well as other suggestions for the course. I will work these into the design of the course as far as this is practicable.
Successful completion of a B1 or B2 course at the FSZ
-or- a passing score for the B1 level on the C-Test of the Language Center (Infos unter https://www.uni-bielefeld.de/einrichtungen/fsz/tests_and_certs/placement/)
-or- a passing grade on the A2.2 Level Exam (given at then end of every summer semester).
Students who do not meet these requirements can ask the teacher for individual assessment.
